yeah, this is definitely going to be a wide open standard!

heh I'd bet that would need a fairly beefy net connection to stream HD video and not get lagged out to shit with the controller

Says it only requires broadband, and it's all done via cloud.

i assume you would get 60fps at least right wouldn't that be much more demanding then streaming hd video for broadband connection? and if they compress the video then there would be some messed up lag with the controls.

man you must have a good connection if you can stream 1920x1080 at 60fps and still be able to real time interact with it

think I really need to move out of .au

I think the penny arcade article and comic are pretty spot on http://penny-arcade.com/2009/3/25/ http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/3/25/ . It'll be amazing if something like this works as advertised.. but I think there are quite a few doubters out there.. myself included.

I got onlive, its FREE so I tried it out. I have a 7meg line that rarely exceeds 5 and I can tell you that I have no problem getting hd. My problem is because my internet is still based off of a wired connection (not fiber) I recieve about a little less than a have second of lag. Not a problem for puzzles but I am bouncing off walls in a racer. Once my service switches over, Onlive is probably all I will use.

I'd like to bump this.

The OnLive application can be started with Launcher, but it drops you out to their own little sign-in launcher. It would be nice to have this integrated because it would let even a low level HTPC play new games straight out of XBMC. It's just been released in the UK and works very nicely for me (though it wont do crisp 1080p like a dedicated gaming pc/console given the bandwidth restrictions). You can run demos instantly (no install) and for free, and I believe it works with all games on mac (natively) or linux (with tweeking).
