XBMC stalls for MINUTES while accessing SMB share
#1
Sad
Hi

I'm using the latest stable release of XBMC on Jaunty Ubuntu.

When I try to add an SMB share and navigate to a share by clicking "browse", every click causes XBMC to stall for a few MINUTES... and during this time the mouse is not responsive in the XBMC window. The share I tried to navigate to has no more than 30-40 files in its root.

When I finally click OK after adding the share to the path line of the "Add video source" dialog box, XBMC stalls again (this time for 5 minutes at least, I'm not sure this stall even ends... I gave up after 5 minutes).

Any ideas?

thanks!

this error sticks out:
Code:
ERROR: Can't open the database MyVideos34.db as it is a NEWER version than what we were expecting!

You can try to update your XBMC build and see if it works again, or if you don't mind rescanning your media you can delete the file .xbmc/userdata/Database/MyVideos34.db and rescan your media.

That should fix at least one problem, but there may be more.

That error is displayed because I downgraded from the latest SVN build when trying to diagnose the problem. The problem of SMB-related stall occurs in both cases.

Any ideas why this happens? It isn't a network problem.

Turn off automatic thumbnail creation. It's basically unusable on non-local media.
