Content from CF to USB

Hello there,

I have XBMC Live (latest SVN) and it is installed on CF Card 4gb (via card reader as removable drive).
After that I have changed following line in menu.lst (boot=usb to boot=disk)

kernel /vmlinuz initrd=initrd0.img boot=disk quiet splash xbmc=intel,nodiskmount,tempfs,setvolume loglevel=0

and plugged it in IDE to CF adapter. It works like a charm.
If I need to plug CF card again to card reader I just change back to boot=usb Smile

When I play a while and mess up the things I just copy back CF content from XP folder to CF card and I'm up and running.

However, I tried same process with two USB sticks (Kingston DataTraveler 4gb G2 and Kingston DataTraveler 8gb)

Copy pasted the content changed to boot=usb but can't boot xbmc.
My PC boot's fine from USB sticks if other bootable OS is on them.
So, I guess is not just that simple as I thought...

Is there something I'm missing here?

Any tips would be highly appreciated Wink

Hello, thx for reply.

It doesn't!
Now that you've asked, I remember that I have installed grub to both CF cards, MBR, so that's why it works on them and USB not.

Thx man Wink

Now I need to figure out the easiest way to install grub to mbr.
I have one box running on CF 4gb card and need to install 7 USB sticks with bootable XBMC.

If you want to be really careful, disconnect your hd and boot from a Ubuntu cd.
