I had a question about how the thumbnails are stored in the userdata folder

what determines the folder number that the thumbnail is stored in?
\XBMC\userdata\Thumbnails\Video\1 <-- i.e. the numbered sub folder

Well there is a hash created and depending on the first character of the hash it is put into the directory. So a hash of 1a0b894c is put into the 1 folder. The reason is probably a limitation by several filesystems that only allow a certain number of files in a folder.
