Odd resolution behaviour 1080i/p
#1
Hi,

i own a Phillips 4662 TV and a Acer Revo running Windows 7 and XBMC.

First of all, the TV is a non 1080p TV. The highest it can handle is 1080i. If you send a 1080p signal the TV will downscale it to 720p.

Now my desktop is running fine at 1080i, but when i enter XBMC, the resolution (indicated on TV) switches to 1080p (downscaled upscaled 720p). It does _not_ help to set XBMC to 1080i!

I think i tried all the resolutions that were available in the XBMC settings and had no luck getting a 1080i mode.

Is there a way to force a specific video mode in XBMC, or do i have to tinker with my graphics card driver?

Thanks a lot, h.

Is there a way to start XBMC within the desktop resolution?

Edit: I somehow guess its an EDID problem.

This is getting me crazy.

The correct mode for 1080i is 1920x1080 30 Hz skip lines. No i tried all modes labeled as 1920x1080 30 Hz (and the 1080i mode) in XBMC and it forwards me to all kinds of other resolutions.

Canyone give me a hint where XBMC gets its resolution informations from? Huh

Edit: As long as XBMC doesn't have focus it runs fine. As soon as it gets focus, i get an ugly scaled resolution. My TV is cursed. :/
