Best remote solution for Asrock 330 Ion

I have bought the X10 RF Remote from a german dealer: http://www.pollin.de/shop/dt/MDI2ODcyOTk...g_X10.html

It works like a charme. I uses this manual for installing under Ubuntu (german):

http://linuxundich.de/de/ubuntu/pc-funkf...-mit-lirc/

It's a very cheap one

Greetings

Any UK Users may want to consider this with the ASRock, (Or other system)

In Stock in Maplins (Check your local store online first)

£19.99 gives remote, Sensor, and extension lead.

http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=218643

Works out of the box, all buttons great. Never had such an easy to use remote with XBMC. Also the supplied sensor works fine with Logitech Harmony remotes

NO settings to do, just plug it in and run,

I know there are cheaper options online, but this was on the shelf in my local store, no hassle with ebay/shipping etc.

So if you are UK based and after an easy solution - worth looking at

I kept reading ASRock launched 2nd Generation ION 330 system with remote control and WiFi. I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the regular 330 to one with internal receiver just like its big brother.

Agree. Just bought the 330-BD and now they launched new models with remote! They should sell the remote and ir reciever as ugrade bundle to existing systems.

I bought 330ht. The built in ir reciever on the new model, does not currently work in linux (the live build anyway). So Ill probably need to buy an external receiver anyway.

I have a ION 330 HT with built in IR receiver and it is still the same problem. Works fine if you use windows and does not work at all if you use linux.

There is a thread related to this problem (ASRock ION 330 HT) here if you want to read more about it: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=61840

Hi,

i have tested many remotes with XBMC Live and Windows version.

I tested Gyration, Hama, Speedlink, OrigenAE , Toshiba RF and some no name remote.
Nothing did work 100%.

After reading here, that a MCE remote will work plug & play, I bought one on Amamzon: Amazon MCE remote

It worked directy. 100% for me. I had saved a lot of money, if I bought this directly Oo

For old xbox users upgrading to a real HTPC (as me), the wireless xbox1 controller is a really good option. Works flawlessly with xboxdrv.

My gf hardly noticed the switch from xbox1 to asrock330 (untill she saw the bill of course) Tongue

Howdy, I've just bought a Hauppauge 00226 remote, and am trying to get it to work. I've plugged the USB dongley thing into a working USB port (tested with a pen drive), and when I press buttons on the remote the little red light flashes. However, the remote does not work in XBMC, which I think is because I've not done the "> Windows MCE Remote (new)" bit you talk about. What is that, and how do I do it?

Cheers!
