downgrade to specific ppa build?
#1
I installed XBMC using this script, which installs a build from May: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=55282

As Mediastream redux requires a more recent built I updated, which brought me to r23422. Unfortunately in that version DVD ifo play is broken (there is a trac ticket). I am now dying to get back to either my first install (and accept non working mediastream redux skin) or preferably r22528 or 22118, both are said to be stable.

I tried editing the script (posted in thread on the script) , and also used information posted here (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=4...post412809) and here (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=33327&page=55) but downgrading doesnt seem to work. I guess as I have a newer version installed it doesnt want to. Can someone please point me in the direction of a noob-proof way of downgrading?

Read the last 5 or 10 pages of the PPA sticky, I am to lazy to write all the wget lines again....

But be warned nothing is entirely noob friendly when you are working with experimental software.
Hardware: ASUS P5N7A-VM with 2GB RAM and Intel Celeron 430 1,8GHz @ 3,06GHz

Thanks, I found the post but was under the impression that the method described there wasn't really working yet as some questions are still being asked about dependencies. I will keep tracking it and try anyway as my system isnt running great now anyway.

If you still have a copy of 22118 on your harddrive please let me know! I searching all over the place to see where to find a 22118 package that will fit my xbmc live install.

Don't have it. You can find it here though:
http://www.sshcs.com/xbmc/?mode=BL

Problem with these is that I'll have to hack my /etc/event.d/tty1 and profile to get things working properly. I'm used the xbmc live iso to have a minimal install.
