Questions about beta1 upgrade
#1
After messing around, and having to change my sources file, i was finally able to upgrade to beta1.

I have two questions. First, I noticed this when I updated:

Quote:Configuration file `/etc/init/xbmc-live.conf'
==> Deleted (by you or by a script) since installation.
==> Package distributor has shipped an updated version.
What would you like to do about it ? Your options are:
Y or I : install the package maintainer's version
N or O : keep your currently-installed version
D : show the differences between the versions
Z : background this process to examine the situation
The default action is to keep your current version.
*** xbmc-live.conf (Y/I/N/O/D/Z) [default=N] ? Y
Installing new version of config file /etc/init/xbmc-live.conf ...

Setting up xbmc-skin-confluence (9.11~beta1-jaunty2) ...
Setting up xbmc (9.11~beta1-jaunty2) ...
(T: XBMCLive)root@XBMCLive:~# reboot

notice the section bolded....is this normal?

Second thing: when I go into system info, there is no build, it just said xbmc 9.11-beta1 rUnknown. Is this normal? Alpha2 had a build number. XBMC seems to be working great after I rebooted out of safemode, just wondering about these two things.

Thanks.

I would like to know this also...

Upgraded on Ubuntu 9.04 using 'apt-get dist-upgrade'
Got the same messages as the OP...

Furthermore, it seems that XBMC is now trying to start up as another local user and not the user named xbmc. How do I set it back to use the user 'xbmc'?

I'm now getting seg-faults in the log. Whether its caused by XBMC running as a different user, or it's due to the missing .conf file, I have no idea. XBMC is not running, even after I've tried removing the packages and reinstalled them Sad
