how large is the souce code from svn?

Exclamation
I was thinking of making a patch, but then I discovered that the sources I have are a tarball (xbmc-9.11-b1.tar.gz). (I don't remember where I downloaded it from)

So, I've decided to get the trunk code from the svn repository. But according to here,

http://sourceforge.net/projects/xbmc/fil...ce%20Code/

the source files are 800MB+ ?!?

Is that really true !? Shocked I'll need to set my system for about 6 or 10 hours straight just downloading it all !!!

Oh well, may as well just bite the bullet and see how much it really is. I'm going to use this,
Code:
# svn co http://xbmc.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/xbmc/trunk

If it takes more than 30mins, then, I'll put it off for a more convenient time.

I checked out the Camalot beta or alpha, can't remember now but it is 847 MB on disk. So yes it is true.

are you downloading the tarball of source?

I would recommend that you use svn instead

6-8 hours to download 800megs? ouch.

Yes it's probably around 800+ megs. Mine is 1.6gigs with the binaries.

I suggest "svn co..." and go to bed.

Download transfer using SVN is around 190Mb. Obviously you want to just grab trunk.

Well, I finally got the source. (I'm in windows using tortoise SVN)

I right-click and from the properties the total size is 855MB (size on disk), so it looks like I got it all. ( I'm sure its trunk) (revision: 25498)

Now to get to work !
