theTVDB.org Scraping Question
#1
I been on the Boxee platform for a while now and never gave XBMC a try.

Just yesterday I started messing with this and really like what I am seeing.

I have the latest appleTV software and running the latest build of the XMBC for the appletv.

I have my external connected to the appleTV with the directories below:

external >>
>>> movies
>>>>>>movie01.avi
>>>>>>movie02.avi

>>> tv shows
>>>>>>24
>>>>>>>>>24.s01e01.avi
>>>>>>>>>24.s01e02.avi
>>>>>>>>>24.s01e03.avi

When I set the content for the movies I couldn´t get anything working until I used imdb.com. That has worked properly, but I can´t for the life of me get the TV shows to scrape.

Any ideas what I can do to start figuring out what I am doing wrong? I had been using the thetvdb.com for Boxee but for some reason nothing is wanting to get indexed.

Thanks for any feedback!

dude, seriously, use pastebin. When I'm on my iPhone, I cannot download files. Luckily i'm not now.

And, you MUST supply a debug log while the problem is happening and you must supply a DEBUG log.

Lets break it down slowly

enable DEBUG mode from system
Restart XBMC
Add files to the library
Then get the debug log.
Then put the debug log on PASTEBIN.com
Use mythicalLibrarian to make a library out of your MythTV files. Leave the recording to MythTV and use XBMC as your library.

Trying to learn quicker.

appleTV - 3.2
Launcher - 3.2.1
XBMC - 9.11. 26018
SVN - r566

Problem - TV Show scraping is getting no where. Movies (230 movies all scrape in library) but I can´t figure out why the TV shows won´t.

Architecture -

HD
-movies
-- movie01.avi
-- movie02.avi

-tv shows
--tv show folder
----tv show.avi

-- tv show 2
---- tv show.avi

xbmc log - http://pastebin.com/m3ba0d685
console log - http://pastebin.com/m1fc7e6c2
crash log - http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/348584/

Season 1 {season folder}
Ugly Betty S01E01.avi {some shitty tv show, should have been first and last}

Thanks for the feedback. I went ahead and added seasons into the tv show folders but anytime I go back in and reset the content and have it scan again, it´s a 2 second scan and nothing is changing.

Alright, I went and turned on debug mode, then had it scan for new content, then restarted xbmc and then pasted the log

Seems as if you picked the wrong dir to set content on.

Try:
* Enable debug logging
* Unset content on 'aTV' (select yes to remove items)
* Set content 'TV Shows' (tvshows - thetvdb)
* Press C on 'TV Shows' and select 'Scan for new content'
* Pastebin the log in case nothing was scanned to your library

Thanks for the help here, I did what you suggest above and here is the log : http://pastebin.com/m14c374db

Looking like it´s still doing the same thing.

Update.

I tried looking at the log file to see if I could even read it... after reading it I just thought I would change my root folder from TV Shows to just "TV" and sure enough when I clicked the set content it scanned my shows.

The first issue was it showed all my shows but out of 20 tv series, only 3 had any episodes and in those only 1 or 2 were scraped.

I went back and forth, trying to read the right naming systems, but I noticed after deleting content and rescanning 3 or 4 times that I finally got a decent scan of shows.

So right now I think I am ok, just needed to scan many times. Not sure why renaming the TV SHOWS folder worked.

Thanks for the help on this though...

I think i phrased badly. You have to set content on the "TV Shows" folder, NOT on "aTV".
