I have an older mac mini, which i have given to a friend with xbmc dharma running on it with out any problems we used to use 3.5 to phono, but he now has a cheap dolby surround sound system, I have the adaptor and have checked im getting the signal coming out (red light) but i just cant get it to work, I have checked the settings in xbmc and as far as know everything is switched on correctly, all the videos have been converted with handbrake to atv preset, I presume the optical cable will pass th sound and the amp decodes it to analog if needed. P.s it works with 3.5 to phono :}
