Recorded programs work fine, live doesn't. I upgraded to Ubuntu Jaunty recently which could be related but I haven't used live tv for a while.

Are there any errors when this happens in the mythbackend.log file? Usually located at /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log.

Also, if you start xbmc from the command line, are there any myth related errors showing up there (not all of ths stdout logging gets redirected to the XBMC log file).

Please don't truncate the debug log file. There's information at the top which is useful for checking OS, version of XBMC and many other things.

I tried with mythTV 0.23 (ubuntu 10.04 server) and can confirm its working. You need to make sure that the from your xbmc box you can access the mythtv server via the hostname. You can put your mythtv server's hostname with ip into /etc/hosts file if you don't have a name server running.

I'm going to edit my /etc/hosts file, and update the Video Source in XBMC to see if that works. I don't think it's going to make a difference given that the url is localhost (mythtv and XBMC are running on the same machine), but I'll try anything cause I can't seem to figure this one out

I has success when using the IP address rather than the hostname. So 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost.
