the movie database problem?
#1
Hi,

Everything was working fine on my new macbook pro until yesterday. When new movies being scanned in had trouble getting fan art. I seemed to happen out of the blue, i hadn't changed any settings.

OSX Version - 10.6.3
Platform - MacBook Pro (MBP61.0057.B05)
Install Method - dmg
SVN Revision - XBMC 9.11 r26018
Architecture - i386
Skin - MiniMeedia Waffa Mod, though the problem occurs in all other skins (pm3, mediastream)

System hardware specs:
2.4ghz i5
4 GB DD3
320gb hard drive 5200rpm
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M

Media being scanned is on (and has always been on) a usb connected external drive format fat 32.

So basically its like it does know what do with fan art anymore:
- No fan art is found for new films (but the imdb stuff is)
- Items that had previously been scanned in fine, been removed and re-added but not changed at all lose all their fan art
- Items that had fan art can still display all fan art that it found previously and can apply them (i.e. swap fan art).
- I can go on themoviedb and look at the fan art no problem.

Solutions i have tried so far but with no luck:
- Swapping skins
- Removing all sources (and removing items from the library) then rescanning.
- Deleting the xbmc folder in application support and starting a fresh
- re-installing xbmc

My brother seems to know things and says this is significant:

It's really weird.

Has anyone had it happen to them?
I'm not really prepared to do a fresh install of the os to see if that helps.

I really love XBMC but this is really frustrating me!

hi, I have the same problem. Got an answer from "aptalca" and i quote:

"there is a problem with tmdb's api at the moment

it should be fixed in a day or so, you don't have to do anything but wait.

Btw, it won't be fixed for all movies at once. Because the cached items won't clear for 24 hours."

hope this is the case. this was on saturday I think, I still can't get fanart to work.

Have the same setup as you. Mac OS X 10.6.3 with external hdd on a macbook. I use Minimeedia skin.
