Hey, im new to the media center scene.
What i want to do is setup a media server (which has all movies and music). And stream them through LAN to devices eg PC xbox 360 ps3.
Is there a media server that is just a command line?
what would i need to do to get all this to work.

Well I can only honestly answer one part of your question... Regarding streaming 1080, yes you can but it requires a fast network. I stream 1080 from my HTPC to my hi def TV over a gigabit network I set up and it works very well. If you have a network spike on your intranet you may get a stutter or pause for a second but goes back to streaming normally once it passes. Its a rare occurrence in my setup.
I am not aware of streaming from one spot to different devices over the network, I am sure it can be done but may require more time and hardware that would make it not worth it. My HTPC streams over HDMI directly to my TV. I will leave that for someone more knowledgeable to answer.
