i had same issues.. its unsafe but the reason was.. xbmc was sudo user but had to input pw to access files/bins.. so i just NOPASSWD'd xbmc and i could run any script/auto

You sure you faced similar sort of thing and implementing a password-less xbmc-user solved the problem - I wonder "how"? what are the files (and bin) you talking about that xbmc needs to input password for? Cheers!!
