Not 80%, but around 40% just sitting idle...
I have an ASRock 330, and it's on Karmic.
Previous stable XBMC was sitting at ~15% when idle.
P.S. When playing something (VDPAU) it actually lower (~15%).

yep. when i play a move the cpu usage goes down (vdpau). but sitting in the menu it really uses alot of resources.

I get this too - one of the atom 330 cpu cores is always high on svn:31542.
Used xbmcfreak's iso to install to USB for a new build on a Foxconn NT330i and the fan is driving me mad already... turned on debug and found that CPU is generally between 60% - 80%.

Latest PPA SVN and it runs at around 35% on minimum lucid. Event server, UPNP, Webserver all disabled.

r31616, xbmc.bin while idle between 1-2% over here while my cores are running throttled at 2000mhz.

I have the same issue, going from 30 to 60%, making it very hot and slower after time.
When i close and restart xbmc, then it goes fast again for a while.
All this while playing no music and staring at the main menu.
I use it on a netbook with windows XP with an atom CPU, and running the nighly built.

I'm seeing about 30% idle on a home screen but 60% when I'm in my library.
Figured it was just me or the skin. :p

no idea which revision it was. last week cpu load was fine. this weeks last update (fficial svn ppa) and i am back at 405 when idle
