No keymap.xml or keyboard.xml
#1
I have my harmony set up now and want to have a play with keymap.xml to add custom commands to the function keys. The problem is I can't find keymap.xml in either userdata folder as shown here http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Keymap.xml.

Do I need to create the file myself?
If so, do I need to add default values for the existing keys?

I'm using the latest stable release (9.11)

the keymaps are, in general, only located in the install folder, not the userdata folder. you can manually stick files in the userdata folder if you want to override defaults / add mappings. these will be concated to / override the system definitions.

I don't have one anywhere (tried keymap.xml and keyboard.xml), I have searched the entire drive, do I just create one myself and add to it?

trust me. you have it. if not xbmc wouldn't have any keymappings at all. the silly search crap in windows tend to exclude the interesting dirs iirc, in particular program files. don't trust the friggan puppy.

C:\Program Files\XBMC\system\keymaps

Edit :
http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Keymap.xml

introduction says Eek
(installation directory)\userdata\keymaps\

Nothing there and isn't the default location.

Click Start then Run (or Start then All programs then Accessories then Run in Win7), type %appdata%\xbmc\userdata and click OK. This should open your usedata folder. You may need to create the "keymaps" subfolder.
