Building a dedicated file server and a seperate HTPC... Here's what I bought...

Can't wait until I get home tonight to start building. Will take pics of course.

File Server:
Case: Antec 300
Mobo: Intel Atom D410 Mobo
Ram: 1GB PC5400
Boot HD: 80gb 7200rpm Notebook HD
Storage: 2x2TB Caviar Green
PSU: OCZ one I had lying around
OS: Ubuntu Server

HTPC:
Case: Antec ISK-300
Mobo: Zotac A-U N330
Ram: 2GB
HD: 320gb 7200rpm notebook HD
Optical: Slimline DVD
PSU: Included
OS: XBMC LIVE!

Going to try to do the hands off thing mentioned here... see how that goes.

I've been thinking of downsizing to an Atom HTPC. I'm interested in how your build for that goes.

I am really looking forward to this thread, especially pics. That Antec Mini ITX case is exciting!

I just got done putting together my Antec 300 mediaserver so I have one small piece of advice. Get something like this:

to put in the top bays. I lets you have up to 10 drives, and even when its empty I find it helps airflow enough in the case to cool the overall temps. Also I outright blocked the vent near where the GPU normall goes. Between these two things I keep 10 large 7200RPM drive at sub 40 temps in that case.
