When someone gives you a link with 100's of posts all you have to do is to read the last two or three pages and perhaps the problem is there.

It was a problem with the repos so nobody could install XBMC running linux. It fixed as we speak and most probably it will be OK after a day or so. I understand that it is already available SVN version.

When someone responds in your post, all you have to do is read their answer. he said it's fixed now in the SVN and it's comming for the standard.

You can always
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc-svn
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
to upgrade to the SVN version.
Use mythicalLibrarian to make a library out of your MythTV files. Leave the recording to MythTV and use XBMC as your library.

My media center's hard drive died last week and I was in the process of reinstalling everything when I noticed the same issue - any attempt to install XBMC from the "team-xbmc" PPA results in:

E: Couldn't find package xbmc

Well, that's because it's (currently) not available from the stable PPA, and if I understood correctly the archive is in the process of being rebuilt, and once that has been finished you will be able to install XBMC from there as usual. You just can't do it as of the date of this post. But you can look at what's in the archive with your web browser by following this link:

https://launchpad.net/~team-xbmc/+archive/ppa

If there isn't a package called "xbmc" it isn't yet available for download.

Hi guys,
I'm quite new in linux and in this XBMC app. But I definitelly love it. It's so fast and its play all formats how I want it.
Well it WAS.
Just reinstall my sys to Ubuntu 9.10 yesterday co I was using MYTHBUNTU with this XBMC. But there was missing some things in the Myth sys so I decided to install that Ubuntu.
Now I can't install XBMC. I just found info the repo is under construction or something.
Anyone know for how long Huh Or is there any other option how to install XBMC.
Please help - I desperately need to fix this somehow (if not my fiancée kill me :-)

Thanks

Until the "xbmc" package re-appears in the PPA list your options are:

1. Install the "Dharma" version from SVN, but any existing plugins you use won't work with the new plugin architecture and if they haven't been rewritten for it (or you can't rewrite them yourself) you'll only be able to play local files. Which is why I just UNinstalled it.

2. Grab the version 9.11 source code from Sourceforge and try to build it. Which is what I'm attempting to do myself right now.

3. Wait for the PPA archive to be rebuilt so you can just install version 9.11 for your distro the normal way (and maybe in the meantime you can spend some "quality time" Wink with your fiance?)

(it would be really nice if there was a third party source for unofficial .deb packages of this program. I know there are third party RPM's out there and maybe Alien could be used to convert them?)
