can xbmc play output the embeded closed captioning that is present on some mpeg2 files?
if not can someone recomend a player that? or a work around?

try adding a file with the same name as the file but with a .conf extension instead with this line in it
subcc=1
that is how mplayer normally does it, don't know if it works thou.
