I'm using the live CD "xbmc-9.11-live-repack" on my 3700 and hardware acceleration works out of the box. Not sure if this helps you...

i know I have seen some issues noted with jerky playback and such with ion's which I have a revo 1600

I know devs will say to stick with the actual XBMC builds but there are other builds built from those that cater more to ion machines which I use and have had no such issues

So the acer Revo R3700 seems great! Though every guide I've come across to optimize HD playback suggests changing the IGPU Frame Buffer size to 512MB. I've done this on other HTPC systems and it's worked out great. However, this option is not available in BIOS with this new Acer Revo Model. Has anyone else come across this?

I have just sorted mine, it took 2 nights of work due to me being a linux noob but now it's working like a dream with Ubuntu 10.04.

I had to install alsa 1.0.23: http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2010/0...ynx-10-04/

Then I had to unmute the channels in alsamixer, once I had done this I had to add some options to the following file:

gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf

then add this line

options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=0 probe_mask=0xffff,0xfff2

Don't forget to change your hardware to Digital HDMI out in the sound options window (found in: system>preferences>sound)
