[Linux] Newegg.ca bargain hunting
#1
Looking to put together an Athlon II HTPC and there's a few bargoons today on the Newegg.ca website.

Is PCI-express overkill for an HTPC and light gaming? It has a $25 rebate coupon:

Was also thinking of this case:

and this mobo:

I'll try to snag a TB or bigger HD and DDR2 ram when it comes on sale.

TIA

Despite the good price, I ended up cancelling my order for the Zotac ZT-20303-10L card - it's just too tall to fit in a slim case. No

PCI-Express is the expansion slot of choice these days for video cards. I wouldn't buy anything that isn't PCI-Express.

Also, I'd go with a mobo that supports DDR3 and get DDR3 RAM instead. If you look, DDR3 memory prices are much cheaper than DDR2.

Thanks. I noticed that DDR2 seemed kind of spendy!

I *may* be able to cancel my mobo order - any recommendations?

A quick search turned up a bunch of low profile GT210's on Newegg....and they were much cheaper than the one you picked out

When I ordered the ZT-20303-10L, Newegg.ca had dropped the price to $49.99, with free shipping and a $25 mail-in rebate.

Not to worry, I'm sure another bargain will pop up in the new year...
