[Live] SPDIF AC3/DTS passthrough not working
#1
Hey all, just built a new PC and have been trying to get XBMC live (10.0) working. I am using a Creative Audigy 4 soundcard, connected via coaxial SPDIF to my receiver. Menu sounds and 2-channel films work fine, but when I try to play any film with AC3/DTS the audio doesn't work, I get a sort of quiet digital static. I have tried messing around the the audio settings, alsa mixer and the Audio mixer add-on. In alsamixer there are loads of different volume bars, I have tried unmuting them all, muting some but not others etc. Sometimes I will get 'failed to play audio' with AC3/DTS movies after messing around a bit. Also if I choose downmix to stereo and untick the AC3/DTS supported boxes in Settings/System/Audio, the DTS/AC3 films play, but only the front 2 channels come out of the speakers i.e. no dialogue etc.

Anyway I just can't get it working! Any ideas? Otherwise might just have to install Windows and run XBMC from there...
