Ok here is a new rig.. I've updated all things disucssed except for the MB I'm still thinking about the case honestly but I do like having an ATX form factor.

The MB is something i'll consider with the gigabyte one mentioned wsum99

but eskro i asked earlier in a post about the read write speed of yours vs the mushkin one i have listed.

But thoughts on this rig

That SSD seems expensive to me for what you're getting. You might consider this one. For ~$20 more you get 50% more space. There are other options out there with mail-in rebates that you could get as well.
HTPC: Win 7 Home 64-bit | MB | CPU | GPU | RAM | Case | PSU | Tuner | HDDs: OS, Media | DVD Burner | Remote
Media server: unraid 4.7 | CPU | MB | RAM | Case | PSU | HDDs: Parity-2TB, Data-2x2TB

im with poofyhairguy on motherboards...
cant go wrong with gygabite!!

now that SSD is strong, but my Corsair 32gb is really fast too!
u can save $30 right there!

like i said also, get a gt430 only if u need to play 3d movies or bitstream hd audio to your receiver...
if not, u could save another $30 again by getting a gt210!

how much would a gygabite mobo would cost u?
do u really need usb3.0 ??
what about this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813128431 ??

Ok I'm not wanting my OS/Programs drive to be limited by anything I HIGHLY doubt I'll ever fill up 60gb of random crap as far as programs and what not.

So I do like what I get with the OCZ Drive mentioned.

Now the gigabyte motherboard is definitely something worth going for.

Now with the graphics card I want to have the option for 3D video.

However, what is Bitstream HD Audio? I do plan on running my video and audio through a Denon receiver. The way I understand it is that the audio runs through the HDMI cord as well. Am I right? or should I be looking into a separate audio card?

yes, HDMI works for audio & video....
BitStream means passing the audio un-touched to your receiver to decode...

OK then that's exactly what I'm looking to do. Then that graphics card is exactly what I'm looking for I assume?

Thoughts on this set up? I removed the OS gonna go for the LIVE OS due to the fact that this is going to be a XBMC system only at first then install windows 7 at a later time. Hence the reason for the larger SSD. I mean 20gb of that goes solely to the OS due to it being a 64bit processor from Microsoft website.

OK here is totally what I plan for this system.

Movies is going to be the main reason for this. 1080p and down. The best quality. The reason for the large hard drive array that I'll be putting into the NAS is due to the fact that when I copy the DVDs I keep all the Menus and special features on an ISO file. As well as blu-ray chews up quite a bit of storage. I also want the option for 3D TV. I don't own any 3D DvDs but I love having options.

TV Shows. I have plenty of them. I've been trying to find the best way to do this one. What I've been doing is ripping the VOBs individually then re encoding them to a mp4 format (mp4 for use on my Iphone at a later time. When I deploy and whatnot).

I seem to be able to get as close to DVD quality with MP4 format using handbrake as the software.

Live TV when XBMC finally picks up this ability that will be the MAJOR use for this system. I plan on this replacing my current DVR when that functionality is finally released. I want the large storage for being able to record and keep a large collection of TV shows and whatnot.

I'll be looking at TV Tuner cards when it gets closer for the PVR release of XBMC however with it's current abilities

I really want this system to have full expandability and full upgradability. I know HTPCs don't have to be PC power houses to do what I need. If you guys think I'm to heavy on one part but not enough on another please let me know.

Thanks.

[EDIT]: Oh for the main HDDs does the rotation speed really matter for what I'm wanting to do? What exactly would I be loosing by going from a 7200 RPM drive to a 5400 RPM drive?

i have a 5400 RPM drive and its plays any 1080P movies flawlessly...

BTW, BitStreaming HD-Audio under Linux is not easy if i recall good...
or not even possible i think,,, someone could confirm this plz?

overall i really like your build here...

but only 2 things...

the SSD choice and the Lite-On drive....

i have a 32GB SSD and after installing win7 x64 and XBMC + all my apps,
i have 15GB left on it!!
You could really save another $20 by buying the CORSAIR F40 SSD here...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6820233130

i recall seeing so bad reviews on Lite-ON drives...
i would go the safe side and the buy the LG one for $10 more only!

OK well that's very good to know if somebody can confirm this.

However is it possable to use the system on linux but not be utilizing the full abilities of BitStream HD Audio? Just to save a few bucks on the initial purchase of the system.

I picked up this one. Honestly With what your saying 15gb left of storage that's more than enough.

Well good to know.

EDIT: Well I'm glad I did this before I bought everything LMAO!!!!! I just measured the depth of my media center and, I can only fit a case 16" in depth.
From what I've been seeing is that with that size I'm limited to a Mini-ATX case.

However a new MB issue arises.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813128445

Thoughts on this MB?

Case:
What would you go with?

or

I love Lian-Li however the price difference is fairly large.
The Lian-Li case has great reviews but, the nMediaPC is only so-so on the reviews.
