HDMI Sound issue with XBMC Live 10.0
#1
I've seen the other threads, but I thought I would start a new one to talk about how I got TV/Movie audio to work via HDMI. In System Settings - Audio Output, I set "Audio Output" to hdmi, "Audio Output device" to hdmi and "Audio passthru device" to hdmi. That got enabled sound when I played videos.

However, there is no XBMC "keypress" sounds. On an identical installation that uses analog sound output, both XBMC "keypress" sounds AND video audio works.

I wonder if there are plans for the next release of XBMC Live to get the "keypress" sounds working through hdmi digital audio?

Create the .asoundrc file in your xbmc user folder (/home/loginname)

Paste in the following:

pcm.!default {
type plug
slave {
pcm "hdmi"
}
}

Restart & then you are done.

The .asoundrc edit works, but on my acer revo, after you play a file, on returning to the xbmc menu the system sounds no longer work until you restart.
