I just picked up an Apple TV and read that OpenELEC runs smoother than the XBMC install that runs over the Apple TV OS. I wanted to try it out before taking the plunge and as I understand it, you can make a bootable USB flash drive and run OpenELEC off that without making any changes to the HDD inside the Apple TV.

My only problem is that I am new to all of this and also I am running Windows 7. I can only find guides for OS X.

Does anybody know of a guide for creating a bootable USB flash drive (not an installation drive) for OpenELEC for the Apple TV gen 1?
