Who wants to help a Newb? (Stream content from mac to ATV2)
#1
Hello,

I installed XBMC in the hopes of streaming my DVD library from my mac. Are there any tutorials on how to set this up? How does one go about connecting their ATV2 w/ XBMC to their mac? I know how to use filesharing between mac, but have never done so with the ATV or XBMC so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for taking the time to help this newb!!

If you already know how to share files between Macs it shouldn't be a problem for you.
I am not familiar at all with Mac, i know there could be something about "Time Capsule".

To be simple: have you ever accessed your shares on the Mac from a Windows based computer?
I think from what I read that Time Capsule is like a samba share, so just launch XBMC, go to Video, select "Add Source" Then "Browse".
You will have several options available, choose the "SMB", then browse your network to your computer and shared folder, and add it.

You can use a reference:

and:

(This one is to help you to automatically download thumbnails, fan arts and movies information)

Hope it helps.

Hello, sorry to reply to an old thread, but I didn't feel like my issue was big enough to warrant one.

Whenever I try to navigate to the SMB sharing I set up on my mac, it says: Error 2: Share Not Available. I really want to stream to my atv2!!!!!

Thanks!

Have you checked the permission on the mac. System preference -> Sharing -> File Sharing -> add folder.
Have you also enabled smb in options on the same file sharing screen.

is that supposed to be "upnp" which stands for universal plug and play. There are several methods of remote connection. Depending on your setup, one may be better, more efficient, convenient than others. Have a read http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Con..._PC_Shares
