Upcoming Linux 2.6.38 kernel and XBMC
#1
Looks like the upcoming 2.6.38 Linux kernel will give us some significant performance boosts, even on Atom-based nettops.

How quickly can we expect an XBMC Live release based on the new kernel? Has anyone been able to test XBMC on a pre-release 2.6.38 kernel who can comment?

Live runs on 10.04. Ask the Ubuntu guys when the backport will be done.
Code:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON `xbmc_%`.* TO 'xbmc'@'%';
IF you have a mysql problem, find one of the 4 dozen threads already open.

This kernel patch (also known as "the 200 lines patch, that does wonder") dont helps much with XBMC, except you are doing some cpu/io intensive tasks (like compiling) together with playing video files.

If the next XBMC version is based on Ubuntu, that kernel is already there since 2011/01/29. But, like sraue wrote, don't expect miracles using XBMC with that kernel.

Seems like there will also be AMD Fusion support in this new kernel. Does that mean hardware accelerated 1080p video with the Zacate platform?
