Debian 6 Squeeze kFreeBSD amd64 kernel
#1
Hi guys,

I'm running Debian 6 squeeze on kfreebsd amd64 kernel. This is so I can get ZFS for my 7x1.5TB RAID 6 (raidz2) array.

Code:
GNU/kFreeBSD media 8.1-1-amd64 #0 Tue Jan  4 15:07:39 CET 2011 x86_64 amd64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU    Q6600  @ 2.40GHz GNU/kFreeBSD

I'm wondering if anyone else is successfully running this kernel with XBMC? I've run into two problems (major):

Problem 1:
The nVidia vdpau driver is not available on kfreebsd, so my GT430 cannot use the restricted drivers or vdpau drivers. Right?

Problem 2:
Following the instructions for a git install here:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=741322&postcount=1

I was unable to complete the make because of this error:
Code:
configure: error: unsupported host (x86_64-unknown-kfreebsd8.1-gnu)

There may also be an error (yet to come) regarding fp-compiler which is missing from kfreebsd.

Details here and here.

So at this point I'm questioning if XBMC is going to really work on kfreebsd. I hate to lose ZFS, but if that is my only choice...

Please let me know if you've got this same install working, and how you did it...
