Easy way to enable/disable subtitles
#1
Ive tried searching the forums, but any search with 'subtitles' in them turns up tons of results.

Anyway, I wanted to know if there is a shortcut or a way I can program my remote to enable or disable subtitles? I know how to go into the video settings to turn them on and off while a movie is playing, but I would like a single key solution.

I am currently running Dharma on a Ubuntu box, if that makes a difference.

Yes, there is a function you can assign to a button on your remote. What remote are you using? I use a harmony on XBMC Live. In my remote.xml file I have this entry in the FullscreenVideo section:

<subtitle>ShowSubtitles</subtitle>

And then in the Harmony software I assign a button to the subtitle command. The Harmony remote is emulating a MCE remote so if you're using one of those it's the same process.

Or hit s on the keyboard.

Also, you can turn them off in the osd like you've done and then click set as default and it should turn them off by default for subsequent videos.

Having it on the remote is nice though.

easiest way is to find the keyboard shortcut to it, and add it to your remote.

just pressing the button will then alternate between enable/disable.
