Playback stutters on 1080p MKV content

Question
Hello all, new to the XBMC world, and loving it! I do have an issue with my MKV that causes unwatchable stuttering during playback. Now, I have seen the extensive thread outlining this issue in Dharma when XBMC has been on for a while, but I turn my machine off every day, and as soon as I get into XBMC and try to play an MKV, I get significant stuttering. I also have a .m2ts file which seems to run just fine with the same settings.

Speaking of settings, it seems like the closest I get to a smooth picture is this:

Specifically, the render method has to be set to Software, otherwise the stuttering about triples.

Here's the details of the machine (I assume this should be plenty to power XBMC playback):

Windows Server 2008 R2 (w\ Desktop Experience installed)
GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H
AMD Athlon II X2 240 Regor 2.8GHz
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 4GBPQ
Saphire HD5670 PCI-E GPU

Thanks!

Edit: This is happening on 10.1 as well.

Make render method: Auto
Turn on DXVA2
Restart XBMC & or PC then try.

I will try this. I am also updating my display drivers, they were out of date.

Edit: looks like my updated drivers combined with the DXVA2 acceleration have alleviated the problem.
