HTPC first build/gaming
#1
I'm looking at building my first HTPC system running xbmc to play HD movies, and I would also like to be able to run emulators like Dolphin and play the odd pc game. I would like to be using Windows 7 in my build. Could you tell me if my build is sufficient or if you have any other recommendations.

I currently own the Ipazzport keyboard and like it. It has a backlight, touchpad (you do have to increase the mouse speed, moves slowly when first installed).

I would like the IR receiver to hook up to my Harmony One and this receiver allows for s5 startup and shutdown.

Four Things:

1. I can say from experience that GPU is too weak for the Dolphin emulator. I would consider this the minimum on the AMD side:

Minimum for Nvidia:

2. Otherwise the hardware looks good EXCEPT

3. If you plan to use a Harmony, don't tempt fate. Get a IR receiver it likes (aka the one in my sig). If not get ready for annoying lag.

4. What SSD are you gonna use for the OS drive?

I currently have a 500gb hard drive 7200rpm that I was using plan to get a larger one eventually just not at the time.

The main thing with the IR receiver is I want it to start from a complete shutdown mode.

I say double check the return policy and give it a shot. If it works let us know, if not return it.
