If you enable debug logging (System settings, System, Debugging) the log will be more helpful. I'd guess you have a problem with the audio output settings in System settings, System.

You can set all the settings back to the defaults by deleting guisettings.xml (this won't affect your library). To find guisettings.xml press Windows-R and in the Run dialog type:

%appdata%\xbmc\userdata

and click OK. This will open an Explorer window showing your XBMC config files. You might want to rename guisettings.xml rather than delete it, so you can rename it back if necessary.

@jhsrennie:
Thank I have tried. And I don`t understand why this happen.

With guiesettings old: link
I don`t have sound other than in the menu.

When I deleted the guisettings: link
It works very vell I think. I have sound in the movie.

I havn`t have time to look at my reciver, to see if it gets the right signal.
But I hope so..

But why is that? What is happening?

This is my old guisetting: Link

I`ll try to add my skin again.. An look.. Hope it works now.
And hope my reciver does get the right signals.

It looks like I have to have it in analog audio modus to have sound.
I use HDMI for picture and sound.. This is not right..
Hmmm....

1. Check in Sound options in Widows control panel that HDMI output is default output.
2. Configure in XBMC DTS and AC3 through HDMI and select proper audio output.
3. You have a receiver? If so, disable HDMI autocontrol.

In Windows, there are sound thrugh HDMI output. (right click - test - pling i both front speakers. Looks like windows only think there are stereo)

In XBMC I select HDMI - 5.1 - AC3 - DTS - WASAPI:Realtek HDMI output (ATI HDMI AUDIO)

Still just sound in the menu.

I have a Yamaha RX-V767 and I tried to deactivate the Decoder mode on the HDMI input. (choises are: Auto or DTS), DTS gives no sound in eather XBMC or Windows. Auto does give sound in Windows and XBMC menu. Nothing else.

The other chois I have for audi output device are:
Direct sound: Digital audio (s/Pfid)(High definition audio device)
: Directsound: Realtek HDMI outbput (ATI HDMI AUDIO)
: Directsound: Primear sound driver
WASAPI: Digital audio (s/Pfid)(High definition audio device)
: Realtek HDMI outbput (ATI HDMI AUDIO)

Are the choises.

Check your sound settings in Windows Sound panel - highlight the HDMI output - then choose configure button (bottom left hand corner of the screen) and follow instructions for 5.1 (I'm assuming that is your speaker configuration - if not choose 7.1) set-up.

Hi there. Using 10.1 on Win7_x64 @ZBOX ID40.

(no Debug Log yet)

I had similar tying to make DTS to work. I have .iso DVD movies that have DTS sound.
There are a great number of times when DTS does not work, AC3 does. By changeing the soundTrack on the ods-menu my Amplifier tells ac3/DTS.

This must be somekind of resource Release/alloc problem in xbmc...

If that is the case you will have a problem playing anything other than stereo. Might have to reinstall CCC and drivers (including the ATI HDMI driver included in the CCC package and ditch the Realtek one - has been know in the past to cause issues).

install proper sound card and driver capable of hd audio

use proper cable that can support hd audio

set receiver to output proper signal

go into xbmc, sound options and choose correct signal to match your receiver

thats it

also make sure that the movies you are trying to play have been encoded correctly with DTS signals, some people dont know how to do that.

Hope you fix your problem

OK I`ll trie..

Now I have installed the latest via driver from asus`s page.
And the latest CCC from AMD.
I`ll trie to make a test this night.. If the time is there..

But is there a DVD I can download with different sound types to test.
Like AC3, DTS and so on.
So I really can check if things work.
