Just thought I would respond considering I started this thread. Beta 2 seems to have solved my DVD problems. I tried it with multiple commercial and home DVDs and all played with no problems. Thanks to everyone who helped fix this.
Hi there
I am currently new to xbmc, and struggling to find and understand how to put a dvd in my drive and just play it
I have tested a couple of commerical dvd films and get the same problem
The video menu shows the E:\[Filmtitle] and when I click on it the system message is "load DVD". Also like the above user I have tested on other software (vlc and showtime) with no problems.
It is a real shame as I want to put this onto my son's pc so he can just drop in a dvd and watch it in his room.

I did as I said, searched for the Beta down load and installed, did a quick restart and re-tested my dvd's.

This a real shame, xbmc is great so far and outstanding in the fact I can link to my Humax pvr via upnp and get great playback
hope you can fine a fix or tell me what I am missing here
