Full Version: [MOD] Advanced Custom Submenu
You're currently viewing a stripped down version of our content. View the full version with proper formatting.
I made a Mod (still in beta) that let's you add nearly everything to the home submenus.

So how does it work? Go to Settings->Skin Settings->Menu and you can activate deactivate Submenus as usual. What I added is the ability to rename the label, and to choose the action that you can perform (see below for list of actions).

When you hit enter on the 'Action' button the following dialog pops up, where you can choose from a lot of functions.

A List of what you can add:

WORKING:
- Link to Musik Library (Home, Artists, Genres, Albums, Singles, Songs, Years, Top 100, Top 100 Songs, Top 100 Albums, recently added albums, recently played albums, compilations, last.fm, shoutcast, music playlists, playlist editor, party mode)
- Link to Movie Library(Movies, Titles, Genre, Actors, Directors, Studios, Country, Recently Added Movies, Movie Playlists, Sets, Recordings, Party Mode)
- Link to TV Shows (Title, genre, Year, Actors, studios, Recently Added Episodes)
- Link to Music Videos(Title, Genre, Year, Artist, Directors, Studios, Recently Added Music Videos)
- Open Filemanager
- Open Music/Video/Pictures (in File Mode)
- Open a specific Music/video/Picture folder in File Mode
- Open Weather/Favourites/Systeminfo Window
- Open Calibration Window
- Go To Settings
- Shutdown Functions (e.g. Reboot, Shutdown, Restart XBMC ...)
-Actions to execute directly (Update Music/Video Library/Update RSS)
- Start a Timer
- Reload Skin / Reset Skin Settings
- DVD/CD Controls (Eject/Play DVD/RipCD/Player Controls)
- Start (recursive) Slideshow of specific folder
- Start external Application

NON WORKING (yet):
- Send Wake-On-Lan
- LIRC stuff (start/stop/send)
- change Skin
- Start Addons/Scripts
- Play Playlists directly
- Go directly to specific TV Season, Artist etc... in Library Mode

What's still TODO:
- Localisation
- Animations and the arrows are wrong
- Adding the mission actions

So, here's the download link
Would be great if you could give it a try and tell me what you think about it.

@Ronni: any chance this could make it into your official version once it's finished?

Fice
Hi,

This is script exactly what I was looking for, I want to add >Shutdown> to the Home Menu.

Unfortunately the link is no longer valid.

Help please
Hi fice,

Sounds great, but the two things I do want shortcuts to are not available,
go to Playing Now
go to "Lyrics screen" (that screen you can only get to by clicking on the playing now thumbnails on the home screen)

Thanks mate,
Mark.

Ronie - can it be added to the skin - would be a good addon in terms of functionality?

i agree this mod is very flexible in what you can do with it.
on the other hand, it'll take way longer to set up your submenus.
you need to type in all the menu labels yourself as opposed to selected some predefined items.

i've read the xbmc devs are thinking about making the home menu more customisable from within xbmc,
so maybe it's better to wait and see what they come up with.
Hi Fice,

Could you please re-up the file ?

Hi folks,

sry for the long absence.
First, I have two bad news:
since there wasn't that much interest at the beginning (first answer is two month after my initial post) and the mod had all the functions I needed, i stopped working on it. Additionally I have to agree with Ronni that it makes sense to wait what the xbmc devs are comming up with their solution to more customizable submenus.

Second: My Laptop HDD broke down around Christmas and the mod is stored on that HDD. I tried everything to get the Data but i wasn't able to.

In Conclusion, i stopped working on that mod (might pick it up againg, depending on how the customizable submenus will look like in the future) and the data is lost, im really sorry for that.
