I'm tempted to buy the Tronsmart S95 from GeekBuying to try out, the middle-priced 'Meta' version w/2GB RAM. With their $10 coupon, should be $70. On the other hand, expecting a Venz V8 sample within next 2 weeks, so may wait.

Smart move, you would likely cop all sorts off flak from concerned Kodi devs, members and moderators if anything further from VidOn was put on the front page of a sticky Kodi thread further promoting the tarnished company.

No, won't buy anything VidOn, or even if I did, I wouldn't post about it. Anyway, Kodi foundation was supposed to discuss VidOn issue with Minix, especially as Minix is a sponsor. VidOn advertises "VidOn XBMC" support & "partnership" with AMLogic & Minix here.
VidOn has a Kodi 14 version out and claim to be working on a 15 version. Love how Wolly writes in that thread:

Most of these Chinese manufacturers jump on the next big things... chip, additional cores, Android 5, faster wi-fi, whatever, so their attention to critical issues in previous boxes (that are still relatively new) is divided, and it's like they're starting from scratch with regards to decent Kodi support, HD audio, 3D, proper framerates, etc.

Its all very well all these AMLogic box manufacturers quoting fancy Tech specs when really all they are doing in pumping out common Hardware, from a common AMLogic / Android SDK (even the launcher is the same), in slightly different external cases. Profit on these cheap devices will be very thin, which makes this little snippet of info that I read lately (if it is to be believed) interesting:
