RE: Best small box to run XBMC - kneighbour - 2013-08-23 The GeniaTech EnjoyTv 520 is only android at the moment. There does not seem to be any good way to get Linux onto it - and that is my preferred option. RE: Best small box to run XBMC - Ccampbell23 - 2013-11-27 Hi everyone. My name is Chris. Just wondering if anyone can help me a tiny bit? I use xbmx on a linux pc... I use Mysql database to store all my media info so I can just add an "advancedsettings.xml" file to any device with xbmx, to automatically tie into my library. Works great on my pc, laptop, tablet and cell phones. I want to add xbmc to an older 1080P lcd tv in another room. trying to find the best way without building another pc or buying something too expensive. I keep seeing these small hdmi devices, but have no experience with them yet. Is the GeniaTech EnjoyTv 520 talked about oh here really worth it? and can I add the advancedsettings.xml file to it like on my android tablet? If I can, then I would be interested in getting it, to give it a try. Anyone familiar with the advancedsettings.xml setup in xbmc that can confirm this is possible on the Enjoy? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have bought and setup 5 of these things now for myself and family members. If there are any problems, I suggest it is with the android version of XBMC. The things are so cheap! I suggest that they are the cheapest XBMC box around. It is certainly easier and cheaper than setting up a linux box. There is nothing to setup - you copy across the XML file as you suggest, then fire up XBMC. It is one the special launcher that the ATV520 comes with. That is it. I also add the Fusion XBMCHUB setup, but that is of course optional (but highly recommended). I do exactly this. I also use a central MySQL DB on my Synology NAS, and as you say, I simply copy my advancedsettings.xml to my local adnroid folder and everything works just as you would expect. In fact, I have this setup with 2 other family members as well - and works very well. RE: Best small box to run XBMC - dascmo - 2013-11-29 A shared database is certainly the better way to go if you can. Trying to run a database update on a large library can be painstakingly slow on these types of systems. All my rpi does is read the database. My main htpc which runs 24x7 updates the library database. RE: Best small box to run XBMC - fblauer - 2013-12-07 I have been using the g-boc mx2 midnight from matricom, and I really like. There seems to be a proliferation of new boxes coming out, each one better than the previous one. There is a good comparion to the Ouya here: http://youtu.be/_xkVWLem1iY RE: Best small box to run XBMC - Rotator - 2014-05-09 (2013-08-22, 20:20)Heinzpsx Wrote: The ATV520 does not come with XBmC Out of the Box. No. It seems that atv520 can play 1080p with xbmc, but NOT. It's 720p rescaled. You will find a lot of posts everywhere talking about 1080p with xbmc and atv520 and linux...but all of them are wrong. Look at this http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=180446&pid=1702750#pid1702750 You will get the only real working 1080p, with a very ugly and simple player from Geniatech included in the android firmware. RE: Best small box to run XBMC - skeetz - 2014-05-10 Did he just replied to an 8mth old post? RE: Best small box to run XBMC - Rotator - 2014-05-11 Yes. It's a 8 months old post, but this is just to let know to anybody who read this post in the future that this device is not a real 1080p. It seems to be a lot of confusion about this topic. |
