Is there a way I can clone the installation once I get it working on one Asus Chromebox to get working on another? One of my buddies is probably going to want to have this setup as well once I'm done getting it working and I don't want to spend a lot of time at his place doing this if at all possible. If I can just take his Chromebox once he gets it and then go through the procedure here and then I want to basically setup OpenELEC/Kodi the same way and maybe remove some of the repositories/add-ons

Can I just rsync or scp or tar the config structure over from one to the other Chromebox OpenELEC setup and then just go in and remove the reposities afterwards and delete the network setup, etc?

As per the wiki, if you're running anything other than OpenELEC, you need to update the kernel post-install; the script doesn't do that for you.

As per the wiki, if you're running anything other than OpenELEC, you need to update the kernel post-install; the script doesn't do that for you.

hi Matt, i just have a quick question about these chromebox, you know how in the wiki said the celeron version have an intel hd4000 and the i3/i5 have 4400 or something like that. but when i received my hp chromebox the sticker list the specs of the machine and clearly i see its state intel hd 4400 and the cpu is celeron 2955u. one of the reason i asked because intel just release the driver which enable HEVC hardware decoding for minimum intel hd 4400.

then it's a misprint on HP's part. Either way, the hybrid HEVC decoding feature is only on the Windows drivers, and the Chromebox's firmware prevents it from being 100% functional in Windows, so it's doubtful that feature would be useful even if you did have a HD4400 GPU. If I have nothing better to do, at some point I might test that theory with my i3 chromebox, which does have the HD4400, but I'm fairly confident that's the case.

it's a marketing thing, the Celerons have typically used 'Intel HD Graphics' whereas the Core CPUs get a number. From a hardware standpoint, HD4000 (Haswell) is accurate; the only difference between the Celeron and Haswell Core i3/i7 GPUs with the HD4400 GPU is the number of execution units (EUs) and the clock speed.

Technical standpoint: HD4000 HSW. You would loose a lot if you confused that with HD4000 IVB.

very true - as I mentioned in another thread, the 2955U w/Haswell HD4000 mops the floor with my SandyBridge i5-2450M, which also has a "HD4000" GPU

hi Matt, do you have any idea why my HP chromebox with usb me ir605 sometime i can't wake it from suspend, it's work at first when i set the box up but after couple of day when i wake it up, my other systems are on but the box still not wake up, i press the power button again then the box wake up but seem like it hang or something because i can see the word "working" stay there for couple of second before it disappear. and sometime it doesn't respond at all i have to walk to it and press the actual power button on the unit. all this happen when the box set to suspend in the power setting and i'm sure no power was lost when it in suspend mode.

Can some one upload the linux-firmware_1.140_all.deb file? Ubuntu removed it and replaced it with a newer file from there website so now the wiki directions do not work. For upgrading the kernel that is.

I'm not sure what I'm running into but I've noticed that I sometimes reboot the chromebox and it hangs on the OpenELEC screen on reboot and I have to physically power it off and then back on. I've setup an OS side NFS mount and installed some addons - one of which needs an OS level share installed instead of having Kodi use one built in and I can see it mounted via ssh.

I'd bet it's hanging on trying to mount the NFS share before the network is up. Do you have the share setup properly to wait for the network before mounting?
