RE: Experimental Google Music Addon - corpgator - 2015-10-15

I tried to use it today and it failed on me after working last night. Told me my credentials were bad or invalid login. Immediately received an email from google saying:

"Hi XXXXXXXX,
Someone just tried to sign in to your Google Account XXXXXXXXX from an app that doesn't meet modern security standards.
Details:
Wednesday, October 14, 2015 11:13 PM (Eastern Daylight Time)
XXXXXX, XX, USA*
We strongly recommend that you use a secure app, like Gmail, to access your account. All apps made by Google meet these security standards. Using a less secure app, on the other hand, could leave your account vulnerable. Learn more.

Google stopped this sign-in attempt, but you should review your recently used devices:"

I flagged the activity as me and tried it again and still can't use it anymore. Updated to the last version as well. I'll try again tomorrow and post a log if it's still happening.

Same issue as above user. Got the same email, told Google it was me, still wouldn't let me log in.

Maybe coincidental, but both my phone and tablet made me re-authenticate today. Did Google change something security-wise?

RE: Experimental Google Music Addon - Pepone66 - 2015-10-15

I had same problem.

I cannot connect, and Google is sent me a notification that an application who not meet the google security level is trying to access to my account.

Google have change something into accessing to account. Plugin version 1.5.1

Solution: go to https://myaccount.google.com/u/1/security#connectedapps
or if you prefer: Google account --> My account --> Sign in & security --> Connected apps & sites
Scroll down to "Allow less secure apps:" and turn the option ON.

Voila, next time you will be able to log on :-)

RE: Experimental Google Music Addon Wrong Category View - linuxluemmel - 2015-10-15

Hello :-)

This Addon is working great with my brand new RasperryPi (with Openelec 5.08 installed.)
You did a great job with this addon.
All works like expected with one exeption.
I do often browse my Music ovr the Categorie that I gave the music.
If I open a specific Folder I only see Songs ... I dont the see the albums inside this category.
Do I miss something inside the configuration ?

With the best reagards from switzerland
Hans

I don't feel safe allowing less secure apps access to my account. I will wait for the fix.

"Less Secure Apps" is what google refers to ANY third-party application that can access your account that isn't made by google.
It's not that it's "Less Secure" it's just that it's not made by Google.

For example, You need to enable it to use POP3 or IMAP with Gmail through any mail client (Such as Thunderbird, Live Mail, Outlook, etc) other than the website or the gmail mobile app.

For now we have two options: enable less secure apps or enable 2-step verification and create an app-specific password.

2 step with app specific password worked, thanks.
