RE: [RELEASE] TV Guide - with XMLTV and streaming support - Legolas - 2013-09-30

Hi All
Does TVGuide have an ability to group/categorize the various channels/streams? I tried to figure this out, but couldn't... Sad
If it is not supported, it would be a wonderful feature addition to this addon.

Thanks in advance

RE: [RELEASE] TV Guide - with XMLTV and streaming support - jmh2002 - 2013-10-01

Better support and a forked version of this addon can now be found on an alternative website (the new alternative, not the old one).

Hi.

What is the country code to pull the epg for Al Jazeera when using mc2xml?

Thanks

RE: [RELEASE] TV Guide - with XMLTV and streaming support - trigrhappy - 2013-10-08

I've gotten a number of PMs about setting up TV Guide with XMLTV and USTVNow....

Here's the answers to the most common one:

Question) How do I get the XMLTV file for USTVNow's channels, and how to I get the strm files working correctly:

Answer)
First, run MC2XML. In the gui, select microsoft legacy, enter the zip code "17101". When it asks you for which service, select DISH Harrisburg. This will generate the xmltv.dat and xmltv.xml. You can safely delete xmltv.xml. Rename xmltv.dat to "ustvnow.dat".

Next, create a .bat file named "ustvnow.bat" and paste in the following:

Code:
mc2xml -g 17101 -D ustvnow.dat -C ustvnow.chl -o ustvnow.xml

Now create a chl file called ustvnow.chl and paste in the following:

Code:
I8.28460167.microsoft.com
I15.28461494.microsoft.com
I21.28459588.microsoft.com
I27.28460898.microsoft.com
I33.28455626.microsoft.com
I43.28457987.microsoft.com
I238.28455933.microsoft.com
I241.28457797.microsoft.com
I105.28459373.microsoft.com
I107.28455994.microsoft.com
I108.28460884.microsoft.com
I118.28459333.microsoft.com
I120.28457181.microsoft.com
I122.28456824.microsoft.com
I129.28455611.microsoft.com
I136.28455996.microsoft.com
I138.28456676.microsoft.com
I140.28455954.microsoft.com
I139.28459055.microsoft.com
I176.28460558.microsoft.com
I182.28458338.microsoft.com
I184.28458285.microsoft.com
I186.28455157.microsoft.com
I200.28456220.microsoft.com
I205.28455736.microsoft.com
I208.28459524.microsoft.com
I170.28458210.microsoft.com
I110.28460443.microsoft.com

Now, when you run the .bat file, it will download all the channels EPG data into a file called ustvnow.xml. Now, in TV Guide's settings, point it to the ustvnow.xml file for EPG data. You'll have to re-run that .bat file every week or so to pull the current epg data. There are ways to automate that with windows scheduler that are only a Google search away.

The other question is how to create the .strm files for all the USTVNow channels. The short and long answer is trial and error. However, I've wasted the time doing it, so here is the results. Just keep in mind, each line should be in its own separate .strm file and EVERYTHING is case sensitive.

Code:
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=ABC&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=AETV&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=Animal Planet&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=Bravo&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=Cartoon Network&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=CBS&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=CNBC&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=CNN&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=Comedy Central&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=CW&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=Discovery Channel&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=ESPN&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=Food Network&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=FOX&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=Fox News Channel&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=FX&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=History&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=Lifetime&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=My9&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=National Geographic Channel&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=NBC&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=Nickelodeon&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=PBS&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=SPIKE TV&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=Syfy&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=TBS&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=TNT&mode=play
plugin://plugin.video.ustvnow/?name=USA&mode=play

Now just point each channel in TV Guide to it's unique strm file and viola. Enjoy.

First you have to create the skysat.dat file. Run XMLTV, put in "SW1X 7LA" as the code, then pick ASTRA 28.2 East (Sky Digital) Free Services Lineup (or something to that affect). It will create the xmltv.xml file and xmltv.dat. Delete the XML file and rename XMLTV.dat to skysat.dat.

Next, create a .bat file in that same folder and paste the following code in:

Code:
mc2xml -c -gb -g "SW1X 7LA" -D skysat.dat -C skysat.chl -o skysat.xml

I use this one to pull EPG for both Russia Today and Al Jazeera English. Here is the contents of the skysat.chl file I use to only pull those 2 channels:

Code:
I364.756209.microsoft.com
I17.751042.microsoft.com

Enjoy.

I've done exactly as you've said. When i run the bat file i get this:-

Loading ..... : mc2xml © <[email protected]> (v1.2)
Reminder .... : Unauthorized redistribution prohibited.
Reminder .... : If this software is useful, please donate!
Reading ..... : ustvnow.dat
Downloading . : microsoft.com
Status ...... : No new data available

RE: [RELEASE] TV Guide - with XMLTV and streaming support - Dilligaf - 2013-10-11

Try adding a -f switch to the bat file for the first run, this should force it to redownload already downloaded data. Once the first run is completed you can delete the -f

RE: [RELEASE] TV Guide - with XMLTV and streaming support - shoryukeith - 2013-10-11

That worked. Thank you Smile

I've had everything working perfectly with ustvnow. These last couple days, each time i click on a program i get the message:-

"Playlist. Can't find a next item to play"

any help appreciated thanks.

RE: [RELEASE] TV Guide - with XMLTV and streaming support - VanZan - 2013-10-26

Is it possible to have this addon installed twice? I mean say one for my UK/Ireland channels and another for US stuff? Would it be possible with a bit of file editing/renaming? Thank you for your hard work and such a great addon.

---Updated--- got it working.

Is there a guide on adding channel icons?

(2013-08-08, 23:44)NewJerseyNinja Wrote: I can't get this working on

XBMC 12.2 and

TV Guide 2.0.5

For windows7.

I am using an HDHR Prime with cablecard as the tuner. If I use my mythbackend, I can see the channels loaded from my XMLTV file. I select the HDHRPrime UPNP Stream from TVGuide to setup a channel and the stream name shows up, but when I got to select the channel to play the screen just goes black for about 15 seconds or so, then returns to the EPG.

I looked over at my HDHR Prime and saw that the tuner lights were not lit.

Any ideas?
