Yeah that seems to have fixed it. I just presumed the LOCK function was just to prevent family members from messing with settings lol. Ill be using it in the future now i know its intended use. Thanks for the reply!

It basically sets your home/hubs menus and categories into the same mode as the configuration screen so that you can use the context menu for live editing. The trade-off is a massive performance cost in dynamically generating the menus and the loss of any conditionally built special properties.

I'll remove the option entirely next update. It was a mistake having it so prominent in the UI when it is essentially an expert setting with consequences that need to be understood before toggling it.

It doesn't give all that many advantages anymore now that the new customisation screen makes it much clearer the changes being made. Really not worth all the disadvantages of it being left unlocked.

RE: Arctic Fuse - Kabaal - 2023-12-23

Did you remove it in last night's update? I'm still seeing weird behaviour but can't seem to re-add the lock button on the side menu.

For example if I enter a TV show that has no episodes showing (watched episodes hidden) I can't back out of it, it makes the navigation noises but does nothing. To get out I have to press left so one of the main menu items are highlighted and then the back button works properly again.

Behaviour when there are episodes showing is different but also not quite right. In those cases I now have to press back twice to exit the show.

And then if you scroll back up the highlight will completely disappear and youre left blindly scrolling through titles. Also when it bugs out i get an 'Alarm clock - Alarm!' notification that ive never ever seen before.

I use classic layout and can't reproduce this issue. I need more details.

What version of Kodi are you using? Is this Nexus? (I'm on Omega so maybe that's why)

Do you have disabled items in your lists? How can I create this setup to make this issue happen? Is there are anything in particular unusual about the widgets at the starts and ends of your groups?

I'm using Omega using categories layout and since 0.4.38 I get the same issue at the bottom of the widgets. It goes into the hub for random movies and tv shows, difference is mine is locked and I don't get the alarm notofication.

RE: Arctic Fuse - Blackysb - 2023-12-23

Updated to 0.4.40 on Omega using category layout and now at the bottom of the widgets it switches to widgets for Recommendations, release year  and genre.

Switched back to 0.4.37 and works as it should.

This is expected behaviour. All windows now open search onup and recommendations ondown. Unless you are in classic mode, in which case widgets loop around.

I've got some options coming v. soon in next update to toggle it on/off -- I just needed to make the behaviour consistent everywhere first before I introduced the options to toggle it.

For me, going to Setup Wizard and selecting Classic made a world of difference.

After that, it's pretty simple to setup hubs and respective widgets.

Yeah classic mode is probably the approach which is most familiar to most people.

In terms of simple to complex, it goes: Combined > Classic > Compound > Categories

Combined is probably *too* simple for most use cases but can be useful if you want a really stripped back setup.
Classic is the most straightforward and familiar approach (hence the name)
Compound is the closest to AH2 (horizontal menu widget categories with spotlight)
Categories is the most complex and really only for advanced setups.

I just noticed in the wizard these are a bit out of order. Default should land on classic (with combined to left, compound to right and categories at end).

Hello people! The spotlight does not center the fanart image, but cuts it along the bottom edge. You can replace the picture manually. Process automation is required.

It would be nice to have icons displayed within the category buttons. I have them setup but they don't seem to be working.

Even better would be having a global spotlight in classic mode. That would eliminate the need for categories for me personally.

Icons are not available for categories.

Context menu is generic skinvariables menu so it shows all generic config options for menus. You should click, not long press, to see the correct options (and you will see icon is not an option for categories).

There is already a request for spotlight in classic:
https://github.com/jurialmunkey/skin.arctic.fuse/issues/253

Also I don't really understand the point of disabling all the side buttons? If you want a single side icon, why not just use compound layout and then set onup behaviour to search?

Would love to use the side icons for movies and shows etc in classic mode, it's just that it doesn't have the spotlight feature yet. So this is my workaround setup for the time being.

RE: Arctic Fuse - AudigierSanchez - 2023-12-25

I can't understand the nodes option in tmdbhelper and the addon skin variables, are these options intended to replace the addon library node editor? I can create folders, subfolders and shortcuts like in library node editor and which of the two is better to use?

I just decided to give categories a shot. Looks good, as good as the other options and I'm always going to be a fan of Spotlight.

If there's one thing that Categories has over it is, it's clearly showing when you've moved from one widget to the next.

I have five widgets groups on my home page, Continue watching, and then 2 TV groups and 2 movie groups, which is my basic library layout.

I have corresponding icons for each group, with widgets for various uses and clicking on each icon will take me to that library.

Clicking up or down between icons will immediately show the widgets for the group I'm on, which makes it visually useful and is, in my opinion, way better than the other Categories
