RE: Arctic Fuse - Carfer - 2024-01-05

Is there a way to replace the clearlogo or clearart that appear large above with just the title of the movie or series in text? The thing is that I can't in any way get the clearlogo to appear in my language and when it doesn't find anything the clock stays with the day and time and I prefer that the title appear in text in my language since I have tmdb configured well I think. Thank you

[I want to] set that view to a poster wall (or even info wall) view that scrolls vertically.  Right now not having this is a pretty big deal breaker for using the skin, but no other skin has all the other beautiful features this has!

The skin emphasises left alignment through fixed focus positioning (view moves first while focus highlight stays; focus highlight only moves once reaching ends of view). This left aligned design is a big part of what makes a lot of those "other beautiful features" possible in the skin.

There is no vertical wall in the skin because vertical walls naturally must always have unfixed horizontal movement (because they don't scroll horizontally). That's at odds with the skin design.

The only type of wall that fits the skin design is a horizontal wall with fixed positioning. Problem is Kodi's skinning engine can't do that. Skin engine can only do a horizontal wall without fixed positioning. An unfixed horizontal wall is even worse because of how far you need to travel to get it to scroll (8 right clicks on poster wall!).

Codecs and provider information for the left footer can be enabled in
Skin Settings > Furniture > Left footer > Codecs and providers

The username is the fallback for when left footer is set to show item counts (default behaviour). Can't get item count for a widget without knowing its ID in advance (impossible for dynamically created content) so footer displays fallback in that case.

Skin Settings > Appearance > Foreground logo > Text
Though it should fallback to title first anyway even with logos enabled (it does for me).

RE: Arctic Fuse - C.O.D. - 2024-01-05

Hey @jurialmunkey, could you perhaps limit the maximum number of visible widget titles to four when we are in combined mode? It would correspond well with the number of categories, which also seems to be limited to four, but above all it would prevent overlapping with the playing now display in the right footer...

RE: Arctic Fuse - C.O.D. - 2024-01-05

Another thing, the analog clock seems to be an hour behind from time to time, but then at some point it is suddenly right again.

Ok Jurialmunkey, I'll try what you're telling me to see if I can get it, but if it's true that the titles of the movies or series only appear in the logo or there is no title and the clock remains with the date, I'll approve if with that change in the skin configuration only the titles appear in text and they appear in my language as I have it configured. The skin seems spectacular to me, I have gone from AH, which seemed great to me, to AF without going through AH2 and the jump seems incredible to me, I have already mastered it more or less so I can work on it and create the build to my liking. Congratulations on your work and thank you very much for everything

1) Same way as in default skin. Click the audio icon on the OSD while the video is playing (press select/ok to bring up controls - audio icon on right side).
2) Skin settings > Menus > Customise widgets.

jesus now i feel dumb.. thanks!

maybe one suggestion if i might: with all the (useful) menus and submenus you can sometimes get "trapped" navigating. for example: if i have pulled up a tv show's season and all the episodes are displayed and want to go back to the homescreen/spotlight or just the main part of the UI then (my) the usual button would be the "back" button, as in press the "back" button a couple of times until you return to square central. this works in the normal UI.

in arctic fuse i have to "manually" return by navigating back through the corresponding submenus.... OR maybe i am just doing it wrong Big Grin
if not, it would be great to add this feature to quickly return to the homescreen/spotlight

Hmm. I guess I'll have to keep looking for another skin then. I don't think the majority of what I consider beautiful has anything to do with the left aligned design (like the overlays during playback, or even the widgets that allow the genre scrolling, tho I may be wrong there). Wall poster views are a must. (That's not a knock on your work at all, just what I want from an interface. I think Paramount+ is the closest I've seen in a streaming service to what I'm after.)

RE: Arctic Fuse - Matthius7 - 2024-01-05

Loving this skin and it's def amazing after learning how to create subcategories and stacked widgets. One issue and it just came up recently with skin update. Using Kodi 20.2 and progress indicators broke and if I try and use percent it shows 0% on everything. I did update to latest Omega beta last night and everything works as it should ,but Kodi kept force closing so I reverted back to a stable build.
Edited. Progress on seasons of TV shows is working properly. Progress of episodes and movies is what doesn't show anything but empty progress indicator and zero percent.

This worked, except it only works if you're at the bottom of the list.  So like on the Home screen where you scroll down through various In-progress categories or whatever, the footer only shows when you're on the bottom one.  I get that where it's placed now it would cover up the partially shown next row.  But why isn't the footer just further down?  There's a lot of wasted screen real-estate it seems.  Same at the top where the title of where you're at shows, which ends up pushing the other info down, and all results in only having two lines of plot description.

RE: Arctic Fuse - Matthius7 - 2024-01-05

Long press back button takes you back to home quickly. Took me a while to figure this out.

I don't understand what you're suggesting. Moving the footer further down would still overlap the next widget row...

This sounds like a bug. Need exact steps to reproduce.

Back does the following in order
  • From middle of row, returns to start of row
  • From start of row, returns to side menu
  • From side menu, returns to previous folder/window

On a hub window that has categories there is an additional step to return to categories:
  • From middle of row, returns to start of row
  • From start of row, returns to categories
  • From middle of categories, returns to start of categories
  • From start of categories, returns to side menu
  • From side menu, returns to home.

If you want to return to previous window immediately, you can use the PreviousMenu action (which, by default, is mapped to Esc on keyboard or long press back on remote).

If you want to remap your key bindings, you can find info on the wiki:
https://kodi.wiki/view/Keymap

Or just use the Keymap editor addon available in Kodi repo
https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Keymap_Editor

The "Nexus" version is just the Omega version with GUI version bumped down to allow it to be installed. The skin itself is made for Omega but for the most part it still works on Nexus so I provide a version which can be installed -- but there might be a couple of small issues like this.

Hmm let me have a look. It should have same limit as the combined view in the library (which should be the same as categories) but maybe I messed up something somewhere.

EDIT: I can't seem to reproduce. It shows 4 items when reaching end and limited to max of 5 from start -- which is the correct behaviour (same as how category submenus work). I have 6 widgets in the screenshots below and you can see only 4 are visible at end, and a max of 5 at start.
