I don't remember seeing this behavior before. Everytime I refresh, MC rescans every movie that has a part1, part2 in the name of the movie file. All my rips are mkv.

Give me example filenames with parts and I'll check what is happening.

RE: Media Companion 3 beta's - Now with Music Video support - Edworld - 2016-11-10

These are the movies that are consistently re-scanned:

1 new movie found in [E:\Movies (Bluray)\Ben-Hur (1959)]
1 new movie found in [F:\Movies (DVD)\Around the World in Eighty Days (1956)]
1 new movie found in [H:\Movies (DVD)\Gangs of Wasseypur (2012)]
1 new movie found in [H:\Movies (DVD)\Oliver! (1968)]
1 new movie found in [H:\Movies (DVD)\Stalker (1979)]

filenames:
Ben-Hur (1959)(Bluray)Part1,mkv
Ben-Hur (1959)(Bluray)Part2.mkv

Around the World in Eighty Days (1956)(DVD)part1.mkv
Around the World in Eighty Days (1956)(DVD)part2.mkv
Around the World in Eighty Days (1956)(DVD)part3.mkv

Gangs of Wasseypur (2012)(DVD)part1.mkv
Gangs of Wasseypur (2012)(DVD)part2.mkv

RE: Media Companion 3 beta's - Now with Music Video support - vbat99 - 2016-11-10

And just to clarify, this didn't happen on an earlier release of Media Companion?

RE: Media Companion 3 beta's - Now with Music Video support - vbat99 - 2016-11-10

Quick test with Ben-Hur as
Quote:Ben-Hur (1959)(Bluray)Part1,mkv
Ben-Hur (1959)(Bluray)Part2.mkv
and MC wanted to scrape two movies.

But, added a space before the Part1 and Part 2, ie:
Code:
Ben-Hur (1959)(Bluray) Part1,mkv
Ben-Hur (1959)(Bluray) Part2.mkv
And MC only found and scraped as one movie.

Now, is this new, or was this always like this....I can't recall, but no code changes have been done in the section relating to finding if the movie is in parts.

I refreshed using version 3.6.6.4 and does not rescan the movies listed above

Just to clarify, these movies already have an NFO file created and when I press the search button it rewrites a new NFO file as if it didn't have one.

OK, can you give me filenames of the existing nfo's please as well. Just want to be sure I am testing correctly.

my folder structure is as follows, one folder per movie:

E:\Movies (Bluray)\Ben-Hur (1959)]
F:\Movies (DVD)\Around the World in Eighty Days (1956)

All my nfo files are movie.nfo

One more thing, can you check your settings for Name mode in
Movie Preferences -> General Tab, top right.
What options do you have selected.

RE: Media Companion 3 beta's - Now with Music Video support - vbat99 - 2016-11-11

So you are using basic save mode.

I sent you a link to my config file

Name mode: both options checked

Got it and it's the second option you need to unselect.
Ignore Part

This is where MC is going weird.

I believe this options was for movies like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 &
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Where they were individual releases not a multi-part movie.

RE: Media Companion 3 beta's - Now with Music Video support - Edworld - 2016-11-11

vbat99,

I have always had both options selected and never gave me a problem. I will do some testing, but I believe that if I unselect that option it will create 2 or 3 nfo files per movie. I also have the Harry Potter collection, so I will check what it does

As I mentioned in prior posts, version 3.6.6.4 did not have this behavior

Found the bug. It had to do with the addition of Log Path support.
I believe I will find many more of these bugs as MC continues forward.

For now, disable the Ignore part option until a new release is out.
