I don't really plan on doing any hardcore gaming so I'm trying to go with as minimal hardware as possible. Checked the Asus website but the manual doesnt specify which HDMI version it has. Did find that it supports "Supports IntelĀ® Tru 3D"...is that what I'm looking for?

If you are look at the Asus board I am running it doesn't run XBMC very well ( it is the intel HD1000). I am running the ATI HD5400 ($40) and the setup works fine.

Intel i7 seems too much for a HTPC, I'm thinking about going with the Ivy Bridge with 2000/3000 integrated graphics

I7 is way too much for a HTPC, unless you plan on using it as a gaming machine as well.

I agree completely but as I stated before...I got it for a great price.

I'm actually currently building an i5 3570K HTPC/Mild gaming rig for a friend

Hey everybody,

Its been a while since I've posted. Mainly due to the fact that I had to put my build on hold.

My friend however built his own machine and is having a lot of issues with the video when connected through HDMI. It flickers and has green dots all over the screen when in the XBMC menu is open. Video playback is fine though. Updated the BIOS, drivers, and I have no idea what to do next

HELP!
