This post was aimed at you as much as anyone. I was wanting to add Shelf 3D to this skin. Are you interested?

I could send you a PR or a list of files and instructions so you can do it yourself. I have the images, variables, includes and other files isolated. This would make it very easy to replicate on your own.

I was not intending on supplying a new skin without updates from this thread. I really like the view, even if you had to limit its use to small video libraries with specific visibility conditions. It is one of the best views for music in the skin.
I just started working on it. I will not add it as-is but instead start from scratch since a view, like you described, that has such severe performance issues does not seem like the best way to include it.

I always find it a little odd when you offer to send me instructions and stuff... I don't think I would need them Wink also the indentation of the files on your branch would make my head explode Tongue I blame it on my "slight" case of OCD.

Alright, do it your way. I was trying to save you some time as I had things like the images isolated already.

That other file I sent you was created by you or BigNoid. I just edited it. But no offense taken; it's all good.

I would provide an option to turn off the case flip in place of having something like the case opening. I think the back case textures are causing the performance dip. The music section seems fine, which doesn't need all those textures.

I am sure you know I like feedback as I add stuff so here is my current plan:

I am thinking of adding it as options to shift view to avoid adding another view.

This is literally only 4 lines of code added and one line of code changed.

I guess my first question is does it need to be 3d angled closest right furthest left?

I would mirror the way it looks in the original mod, regardless of the direction of the slant. It already looked pretty great. I think the infopanel is easier to read in the image shown, so I would go with that. You might have to try it both ways.

RE: Aeon Nox 5: SiLVO - GTunney - 2016-01-06

Personally I would go left to right as being in English we tend to process things quicker when reading / scanning left to right.

Move the text which says " The Dark Knight Collection" into the bottom right hand corner where you have the dark spot instead of over the dvd cover.

The color of the text is in blue, despite the change in orange or red.

I can not change this in an XML file ?

Mike,
You said ' Your are taking time off ' and you come up with this BEAUTY! My hats off to you Sir!

I agree with GTunney about moving the title to the right. Left side looks 'busy'.

RE: Aeon Nox 5: SiLVO - Warner306 - 2016-01-06

If you go left to right, you will have to make an image to replicate the spine of a case (aka the title). This might not look great. If you go the other way, the title is hidden, which may make the cases look more realistic.

In the original mod, a text title is added when the case is flipped to its backside. I would say the appearance of this title when several titles are lined-up in a row would make or break the look of the view as shown in your sample. It could look overly fake. Real Blu-rays wrap the front cover graphics around the entire case. It could be safer to hide the title.

Edit: It is possible to compare the two as MadNox uses the same layout.

Hi,

I have a small issue and I don't know if it is skin related or not. I use the last version on a Jarvis RP2 (using OSMC and the GIT version updated this morning). It works very well. I just added Artwork Downloader script to improve the series/movies information. I configure Artwork downloader to run in background.

The issue is simple : Artwork downloader does not load anything. If I run it directly, the script downloads things. Of course, the idea is to run that script 'as a service' with an automatic run and a background downloading. I read the documentation and found mention of the need of compatibility for skins to get the script works well.

I really think that this script is compatible because mentioned in Addons status. Can somebody explain how to setup the Artwork downloaded in a real background manner without having to run it by hand?

Thanks in advance for your help.

M.

Quick question - Can I use this skin on my Android phone?

You can't!

You used to be able to set it to run every so often but that got changed due to too many api hits on the sites it searches for images. The only way would be to run it as a cron job to call the artwork downloader.

Thanks @GTunney

It's a little bit disappointing to do so when everything else in my setup is automatic. I will try this approach or using the Texture Cache Maintenance utility. This tool seems promising and definitively needs to be tested Smile

Add Artwork Downloader as a submenu item. This is how most would do it.

RE: Aeon Nox 5: SiLVO - mikeSiLVO - 2016-01-08

Lots of updates and changes pushed to Git (check the changelog). Needs some testing...

If you report any issues please provide as much info as possible (telling me this or that isn't working or everything is still blue does not help me track down or solve the problem)

Thanks

RE: Aeon Nox 5: SiLVO - MoonArrow - 2016-01-08

Hi,

just updated from GIT (still not available through repository on my OSMC Jarvis beta build but what's another story).

Everything went smoothly. No special issue detected for the moment but not lot of testing yet. One thing only but I can't remember if it appears with that version are always like this : I use the RightList for TVShows and Movies. On Movies side, the interface shows me the duration and the ending time of play (with year, and note) when on the right list part. It's useful I think. On TV Shows episode, still on RightList view, no ending time displayed. Is it possible to display it? With an option for those who prefer a clean and sober version?

On my journey with Artwork downloader side, it's running smoothly now and I update the database with a cron (using texturecache.py function if somebody wonders). But I still have no success in getting different background for the same show/movie even if the options to use fanart is on. I think I am missing something (again...). But once again, not related to the last GIT version.

Thanks for your work.

M.
