You will need to move the images from the extrafanart directory yourself, or if you want AB to download all new fanart for a movie you need to remove ALL of your existing fanart for that movie (the 'extrafanart' directory as well as 'fanart' and any numbered fanart in the main directory).

Artwork Beef doesn't move existing local files nor is it designed to replace existing local files during the automatic process. In an effort to reduce duplicate images it is also designed not to download more numbered fanart if you already have any fanart saved locally - it cannot tell which, if any, of the fanart from the web services already exist locally.

Outstanding, thank you.  My problem was trying to download extrafanart with the original fanart file present.  Deleted that and works like a champ!  Thanks again.  Would I be correct that for extrafanarts in Matrix, some external media manger will have to do the downloading since AB isn't available for Matrix?

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I'm trying to install the repository but it looks like there's nothing in it?

@LostBrit76

If you have installed the repository, then go to Settings>Add-ons>Install from Repository and select rmrectors repository to browse the available addons

I haven't installed the repository - when add the url via file manager, there's nothing there, it's empty and nothing installs

Nope, that is not how you do it.

From the first post in this thread, read Installing. Download the "dev repository" and Install via zip file.

Is this being upgraded to work in Matrix?

Thanks!

rmrector has not made a decision yet. But a lot of the work this addon does has been pushed into the new Python range of scrapers. Give them a try.

Do any of the scrapers actually download artwork?

You mean download and save it as local artwork?

Not yet, but the request has been made and both developers have taken it on board and have discussed how to implement it.

Might someone be able to help me figure out why AB is not finding the directories when scraping?  I continuously get the error "...failed with NFS3ERR_NOENT(-2)"

Thx

Read through that github. I'm assuming the build you were using that had the changes to be able to save files to local folder is more from a nightly build and still is not yet in the RC for Matrix, specifically RC2 that was posted beginning of this month.

Alpha 3 is about to be released in the next day. It will be in that.

There is some confusion.
1) Currently nightly is alpha2, with alpha3 release imminent and beta coming as hot on its heels as we can manage. Release Candidates follow after that.

2) The facility to automatically save downloaded artwork locally inits original resolution has NOT been added in v19. However design of such a feature is being discussed and something for v20 is likely.

Oh geez. Sorry @pletopia I was not concentrating. What daveblake said ^^
There is no build or even a PR. It is still in the discussion phase. My links were only meant to point you to the conversation, not the working code.

RE: Artwork Beef - automatically add extended artwork - pletopia - 2020-11-01

First off, appologizes for the typo. It was late last night and I meant alpha 2, not RC2. I'm aware of the alpha -> beta -> release candidate -> final.

So local saving of files won't be part of Matrix. Guess we will still need Artwork Beef so hopefully rmrector will update his script to support it.

For now I will have to stick with Leia because not really seeing any other reasons to move to Matrix. HDR support is still not supported except for Windows and I prefer to run Linux (however for HDR I would move over if it also meant artwork support was there too).
