ATV2 Reboots when I choose XBMC
#1
I am new to the forum and new to atv2. I have XBMC on my windows 7 and it runs fine.

When I received my atv2, it worked great. After a week or so it stopped going into XBMC. When I choose this on the menu, it reboots the atv2 everytime. I have 4.3 8F455 software and updates turned off.

Any Ideas to get me in the right direction??

are you running recent nightly builds?

Your database is probably corrupt.
Look in the xbmc.log for mysql error

Yes...now as my first post. I am a biggggggg newbie, but I read more, deleted the database (before I saw the last post) and yes indead...I have it working.

Now, for those that don,t mind helping a newbie. I also got the latest nightly build. Do I need to keep updating this? If so, with putty? or on screen somehow. What happens if I do not update. My older version must not have been a nightly build and I did not update it.

Thanks in advance and to those that have helped!

I have the same issue... Is there a better way to JB the atv2 to avoid this from happening?

I've followed instructions to the letter other than uploading my user preferences to a freshly made unit.

see my recent post regarding the same issue:

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=115567

Strange that more people aren't having the same issue?

thanks for any input,

Matt

Right now these are development builds before a stable build is released. With any luck we'll see a stable build (XBMC v11, aka Eden) before year's end. You don't really have to update every night unless you want to help out in testing. If you're just using it causally then it won't matter much. Then if you ever come across a problem/bug, update the nightly build to see if it fixes it. Once Eden is out you won't have to use nightlies unless you just want the bleeding edge features :)

When you do update it you just have to follow the nightly portion of the install instructions via Putty.

First, thanks Ned for your insight!

Matt, I read your thread ealier as well. Yes, it is strange more people do not have the same issue. Maybe its something you and I have done that causes the corruption. I did unplug my unit prior to the corruption and moved it to a different TV. Thats when the issue showed up. I followed the same step you did to delete the db and all was good. I am going to test it a few times by unplugging ect and see if that causes any issues.

Thx
