XBMCbuntu Eden B3 - Unstable HDMI output on laptop
#1
Hello everyone,
I installed the new XBMCbuntu Live eden on my HP Laptop and I have having trouble getting the hdmi out to work. The graphics card in the laptop is a NVIDIA 8200M and the HDMI out w/ audio worked on the last xbmc-live install the older release. After boot I would hit Fn+F4 which was the key to turn on the external display.
Now after installing the new version the function key doesn't do anything.

I have found that if I boot into the desktop side of the linux install I can open nvidia-settings and enable twin view on my tvs display and that will work 50% of the time as far as getting a picture on the HDMI TV. I have tried to disable the internal display and only enable the TV from within nvidia-settings which yields no results. The computer will then have no display and I have to restore the xorg.conf file.

I have run apt-get upgrade to make sure the system was up to date, and that didn't help. I have also tried generating a new xorg.conf with no results. Any ideas are welcome I would really love to get this thing running. TIA

I just noticed something, and thought I would add some additional information.

Using a default xorg.conf file, and running the xrandr command I get this output: (using the internal laptops display, Working)
Code:
xbmc@xbmc:~$ xrandr
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 175, current 1366 x 768, maximum 1366 x 768
default connected 1366x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm
   1366x768       50.0*
   1360x768       51.0
   1024x768       52.0     53.0
   960x540        54.0
   840x525        55.0
   832x624        56.0
   800x600        57.0     58.0     59.0     60.0     61.0
   800x512        62.0
   720x450        63.0
   720x400        64.0
   700x525        65.0
   680x384        66.0     67.0
   640x512        68.0     69.0
   640x480        70.0     71.0     72.0     73.0     74.0

   360x200        95.0
   320x240        96.0     97.0     98.0     99.0
   320x200       100.0
   320x175       101.0

But if I add the Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-1" under Screen in xorg.conf, and restart then run xrandr my output is this: (using the HDMI to the TV, with no signal)
Code:
xbmc@xbmc:~$ xrandr
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 175, current 1280 x 720, maximum 1280 x 720

   640x480        90.0     91.0     92.0     93.0     94.0     95.0     96.0
   640x400        97.0
   640x350        98.0
   576x432        99.0    100.0    101.0    102.0    103.0    104.0    105.0
   512x384       106.0    107.0    108.0    109.0    110.0
   416x312       111.0
   400x300       112.0    113.0    114.0    115.0    116.0
   360x200       117.0
   320x240       118.0    119.0    120.0    121.0
   320x200       122.0
   320x175       123.0

So you can see that xrandr is reporting different resolutions and the output has the proper res for the tv. I just don't know why the TV is reporting no signal. ( yes, I am using a working hdmi cable, and the correct TV input.)
Any Ideas? ..THanks.
