Linux 5.1 sound problem ubuntu 13.04/12.04
#1
Hello,

I have problems with my sound while playing videos. If I play some MKV with 5.1 AAC sound crash after a few minutes (always the same position)
So I here nothing until I change sound settings in XBMC, then it works for a few minutes and crash again.

When I here music or watch movies with no 5.1, all is working perfect....

Hardware I use: Zotac IONITX-A-E

here is the debug log

Code:

I try it with Ubuntu 12.04 & 13.04 --> same fault

Further I have no idear what I can try... have anyone same problem or solutionHuh is there a bug allready known?

What hardware are you running? Which motherboard / processor / sound card (if your using a PCI sound card) are you using?

Is the media your playing on the local system or on another system and being streamed by the network card or WiFi?

Have you tried using a DVD to see if you get the same problem?

Is this only happening with one file in particular or is it all media files?

Hi,

All hardware is local, no streaming. DVDs working fine. The movies are ripped in h264 and AAC 5.1
Movies with ac3 5.1 should be work... I test at this time.
So the problems are not with all movies. Before all these movies working fine.

Before I use the same hardware with ubuntu 10.10 und xbmc eden. There was no problem with sound...

Im using the ITX-Mainboard from Zotac (IONITX-A-E).

all devices are onboard

- intel Atom N330 (dual core)
- Nvidia ION graphic card
- Sound: 00:08.0 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation MCP79 High Definition Audio (rev b1) ----> (figure out with "lspci | grep -i audio" )
- 2GB RAM

Ubuntu is installed on 8GB USB flash-drive.
My movies and data are stored on a 4TB Raid 1 (software-raid with mdadm)

thanks

Please post a screenshot of your audio settings.

I warrant you do not have an aac capable receiver. Disable that.

I believe there are no AAC capable receivers yet (at all) so everyone should always have that disabled.
