When I try to search anything in XBMC the onscreen keyboard has not letters. Only empty boxes.
I tried rebooting but for nothing.

Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem and cant do anything on kodi because of blank boxes and no text.
There is no way for me to see anything.

Fixed
I am using aeon nox skin but this should work
Goto
Settings
Appearance
International
Keyboard layouts (even if a keyboard is already there)
Reselect your preferred keyboard and press OK (not return)
Restart kodi
